Theatre Twyford

The theatre is currently UNDER CONSTRUCTION with an expected completion date of June 2021. The following information is provided as a guide only – final configurations may change prior to  opening. Contact us for more details.

We are taking expressions of interest for theatre hire and show deals for the period starting mid 2021.

  • Theatre Twyford is a proscenium arch theatre with raked seating located in the centre of Merimbula NSW.


  • Seating capacity 199 (raked auditorium) Check capacity with COVID restrictions in force
    • Removable seating in rows A and J
    • Lower auditorium rows A to H 8 rows, 15-16 seats in each row, 2 outer aisles (124 seats) – stair access only
    • Foyer level row J has flexible seating for up to 4 wheelchairs plus 8 accompanying carers or 16 regular seats (8-16 seats)
    • Upper auditorium rows K to N 4 rows, 14-16 seats in each row, 1 central aisle (60 seats) – stair access only

  • Backstage catering on request
  • Smoking is not permitted at any time in the building or within 15 metres of the building under local council regulations.
  • No alcohol or drugs to be consumed on Stage, in Dressing rooms or Control room.
  • Visiting cast and crew must agree to abide by Work Health & Safety standards and procedures including use of appropriate PPE

    • Minimum staff to meet WHS requirements are the duty manager, technical manager/operator and 2 ushers.

Staff Available

Crew minimum payment 3 hours. Overtime 1.5x applies applies after 12 hours on Saturday and on Sundays and public holidays. Some positions (eg ushers) may be filled by trained volunteers if available.

Information For Touring Companies

Our management team is happy to make recommendations to make your stay in Merimbula a pleasant one.

  • Accommodation options in Merimbula are plentiful and available most of the year for touring cast and crew, many within easy walking distance of the theatre.
    We recommend you book well in advance however during summer, NSW/VIC/ACT school holiday periods and on long weekends or during festivals. Contact management for details.
  • Woolworths supermarket – 2 blocks from the theatre at 111 Main Street. Larger Woolworths in Tura Beach, 5 minutes drive north on Sapphire Coast Drive.
  • Newsagent, several banks with ATMs, post office, chemists, dentist, hair salons, clothing stores, health food store, bakery, deli, McDonalds, cafes, bars and restaurants are all within one or two blocks of the theatre.
  • Mitre-10 hardware is located on Toalla Street in Pambula, about 5 minutes drive south.
  • Harvey Norman is in Tura Beach, 5 minutes’ drive north in the Tura Beach Shopping Centre on Sapphire Coast Drive.

  • Main St Medical and Beach St Medical centres within 2 blocks of the theatre. Nearest hospital with emergency services is South East Regional Hospital, 20 minutes north in Virigina Drive, Bega. In case of emergency, dial 000 for ambulance/fire/police or contact our staff.
  • There are several great beaches nearby, patrolled in the summer months only. Sapphire Aquatic Centre with a swimming pool and gym is located on Pambula Beach Drive.
  • There are several hire locations for boats, kayaks, SUPs and bikes.
  • Merimbula Marina has several charter boats for fishing or whale- and dolphin-watching in season.
