Bega Valley Shire Council Backs Theatre Twyford Project

At the Council Meeting of 16 August 2017, Council unanimously resolved to provide a letter of support for the Theatre Twyford Project.

The $8.6 million project aims to construct a 200 seat raked theatre in the centre of Merimbula adjacent to the existing heritage listed Twyford Hall.

Twyford Hall Incorporated are applying for $7.4m from the NSW State Government`s Regional Cultural Fund and if successful will commence construction in early 2018 with completion by December 2018.

The project has the very strong support of the local member for Bega and Minister for Infrastrastucture, Mr. Andrew Constance.

The development of raked theatre facilities has benefit for the community, creating a vibrant precinct that offers a point of difference to in Merimbula and will be the only raked seating Theatre in the Bega Valley Shire.
